THE BUILD JOURNAL / INTAKE

Choose an intake by engine, not just by badge.

The right intake starts with the platform in front of you. Use this short checklist to narrow the options before asking an Endura dealer to confirm the exact part.

Endura intake system for Mercedes AMG M177 4.0T V8

1. Start with the engine code

A model name can cover several engines, generations and powertrains. Begin with the engine code, model year and drivetrain. Endura listings group applications by those details so you can compare the part against the car in your workshop, not a similar-looking model.

For example, the M177 4.0T V8 intake is listed for specific Mercedes-AMG applications. A different Mercedes intake is not interchangeable simply because the badge is also AMG.

2. Check the complete air path

Look at the turbo inlet, filter size, sensor housing, hose connections and the available space around the engine. A larger pipe is only useful when the rest of the installation and the sensor arrangement match. If the car has other hardware, share those changes with the dealer before ordering.

On MQB cars, compare the listed generation and engine before choosing an intake hose or a complete air-intake system. The product page shows the applications Endura has catalogued.

3. Think about heat and service access

Under-bonnet temperature, filter position and access for cleaning all matter in daily use. Check whether the design uses a heat shield or a sealed air path, where the filter sits and how it can be inspected after installation. Ask the workshop how often the filter should be checked for your driving conditions.

Fitment first. Product listings are a starting point. Confirm the exact vehicle, engine code, configuration and local road-use requirements with your Endura dealer and installer before ordering.

4. Confirm what is included

Compare the contents of the kit: pipework, couplers, clamps, brackets, sensor adapters and filter. If the listing shows a separate component, do not assume it is included in another intake package. Your dealer can confirm availability and the current contents of the selected variant.

5. Plan the installation

Give the installer the product page, vehicle details and a list of modifications. That makes it easier to check clearances, sensor connections and any calibration requirements before the car is on the lift. Endura supplies the parts; installation and calibration are handled by your chosen workshop.
